| Quenching steel is the act of rapidly cooling the hot steel to harden its properties. Codere have varied quenching mediums to suit customer’s present & future needs. Codere furnaces can work by using two quench tanks to one furnace simultaneously. |
|
This quench medium is composed of molten salts. The working temperature ranges from 180°C up to 500°C .The salt residues on the load are entirely removable by water washing. By evaporation the salt can be recovered from the washing water. Codere offers a salt recuperator with inverse cascade system to save costs as an option integrated in our washing machine. Austempering & martempering are common processes purchased by our customers as Codere has extensive experience in these special processes. |

| Snapping rings | Helicoidal springs |
| Oil quenching is used when a lower cooling rate is required than brine water. Average working temperature is between 50-150°C. Fume extraction system is recommended with additional security systems installed in Codere technology. Recommended after quenching is our washing machine to clean, rinse & dry the parts in order to eliminate the remains of oil residue. |

This water quenching process is a rapid quenching medium for parts made in non alloy steels and some low alloy steels with big sections. The water can be added with salt or polymer, rapid cooling can sometimes cause distortion or cracking, which must be controlled. |
